A smart horseman once told me "you should never buy a mare unless she tops every mare that you have." This makes perfect sense to me because no matter what she cost, after lot of feed you will regret buying her and chances are that the mares that you have will produce better foals than the one you bought. This man also said "that you can’t take hope to the bank and deposit it." Buying a marginal mare because of price and hoping that somehow she will out-produce herself is a very long shot. A cheap mare is cheap for a reason and you can bet the seller knows more about that mare than you do.

When buying a stallion it is not his best characteristics that are important, it is his poorest points that you have to deal with in his foals.

A person should never buy a stallion unless he is better than all his mares, because he could pull the whole herd down. It will always cost you money. Spending a little more is always better than losing a lot.

The following horses that I have listed for sale I feel are of superior quality. Most are sons and daughters or grand sons and daughters of proven horses. When someone tells you that a horse goes back four generations to a proven horse he is also telling you that the horse goes back to 13 other horses that might not be proven horses or of questionable quality. In five generations that is 31 other horses of questionable quality.

Sorrel Overo Mare

Located in Michigan

DOB: April 3, 1993

Stands 15-2. Has been shown by a youth in halter, showmanship, equitation/horsemanship, English/western pleasure, trail, and gaming classes. Owner gives lessons on her and kids ride her bareback with just a halter and lead ropes. She has also been trail ridden. She loads easily and is good for bathing, clipping, shoeing, and longeing. She sometimes wants to cheat at the canter and needs a smack on her neck to get her to collect up. She has APHA halter points and has had two foals. She is easy to bred, foal, and does anything else you want with her. She is easy to catch in the pasture. Currently open with plans to breed in 1-2 months. She is completely safe for anyone to ride and does not need working first even if she has not been ridden lately. She is current on all worming, vaccinating, and hoof care.

Big Soggy are just two adjectives to describe this mare and she sports a big hip along with a great head to round out her package. However that's not what she brings to the breeding shed. She is an easy breeder that delivers a gorgeous, great headed baby. Now here is the best part, this is a mare that has had only two babies in her young life. She was left open to breed her early next year. This mare is by Sir Cool Skip, who just happens to on the current Leading Sires List and her mama is a daughter of A Classical Mister.
